SANJA RISTIC / AWARD WINNING CHOREORAPHER
from Moodboard to Movement

about me
producer | creative & artistic director | choreographer

Sanja Ristic is a Creative Producer, Artistic Director and Choreographer. For more than 25 years, she has worked at the intersection of movement, choreography, casting, film, commercials, stage, fashion and live performance. Her artistic background began in Basel’s contemporary dance theatre scene around Be Willie and Cîrqu’enflex, where she developed a deep understanding of ensemble work, stage presence and life on tour as a dancer and performer.
In 1999, Sanja became part of the founding TV Team and TV Presenter of VIVA-SWIZZ, Switzerland’s first music television channel, where she hosted the station’s most-watched formats. This early work shaped her eye for camera, editing, rhythm, pop culture and visual identity — long before social media and creator culture became the norm.
International projects later took her to Berlin, New York, Amsterdam and Munich including work as an assistant director for Constanza Macras / DorkyPark, further stage experience with ecotopia dance productions on international european tour, and film movement training with established choreographers such as Francesca Jaynes.
Driven by her fascination with urban dance, pop culture, fashion and the avant-garde, Sanja began developing her own artistic language: combining choreography, stage design, light, fashion and video projection mapping into immersive live experiences. In 2012, she received a scholarship at the 3LD Technology Center in New York, where she deepened her research into dance, 3D video projection mapping and immersive stage environments. This artistic signature created the fondation and led to pioneering projects such as Animal Instinct (New York) and later RE.SHOW (Munich), which was awarded the Red Dot Award, German Design Award, iF Design Award and ADC Award in 2019.
Her creative strength lies in staging movement as a powerful visual experience: bodies become statements, movement becomes attitude, and through her artistic eye, storytelling through movement becomes an innovative visual language — not only on stage, but also across film, fashion and commercial productions. Through a wide range of complex projects, Sanja understands the production process from the inside — from concept development, casting and rehearsal to performer direction, set structures, credits and final execution.
This experience became the foundation of her Screen-ready Materplan Method for Movement Scenes: a production-friendly system for agencies, producers and creative directors who want to integrate performance, casting, rehearsal, buyout awareness and on-set execution clearly and early — reducing risk, last-minute confusion and costly compromises on set.
She is regularly brought into film and TV productions when movement and camera-ready performance need to be prepared with precision, including the SRF/ARTE series Frieden / Labyrinth of Peace, where she prepared actors and cast for a key dance scene. With her Screen-Ready Movement System, Sanja now supports film, commercial and campaign projects from the very beginning — translating creative concepts into production-, screen- and camera-ready movement scenes before the shoot begins.
Alongside her artistic and production work, Sanja is a lecturer for Movement & Choreography at Stage Academy Zurich and advocates for professional standards within the Movement Department, including clear credits, fair buyout structures and greater visibility for movement direction and choreography in the production process.
